This is the design for a level from my game and the level that I have chosen to develop is the first level in the game. I have chosen to stick with the original design scheme of my mood board as the grass is light green and the road is a combination of light grey and pastel yellow. The image shows two children sprites on the side of the road while a car passes by. The image is devoid of a player sprite but the player’s objective in this level will be to first go out into the road alone and press the ‘X’ key to blow a whistle and stop the car. The car will be stationary for 20 seconds in this level and the time will be shown by the clock that appears next to the car sprite. The amount of time that the car stays stationary for will decrease with each level so that the levels become increasingly difficult and the player will have to time their crossings. While the car is stationary, the player must stand near the children on the pavement and press spacebar in order to get the children to follow them. Then, the player must guide the children across the road while avoiding road hazards such as potholes or oil pools. There will also be stars on the map which the player can collect in order to earn extra points. As the levels ascend in difficulty, so will the difficulty of finding stars. If you complete the level before the time runs out, you can go to the next level and you will get a certain amount of points depending on how long it took you to complete the level. However, points will be detracted if any of the children within your party die from either getting hit by cars or falling into a pothole etc. Each level will have a different design and different obstacles specific to it. This will make each level unique in its own way and memorable for the player.
