Who is it for? (its target audience)

There are many different focus groups that the game could be targeted to. For example, the brief states that the game could be for young pedestrians so making a game targeted for primary school children who need to know how to cross the road safely is a possibility. However, the game could also be targeted to tweens, teenagers and secondary school students who normally walk home from school by themselves and need to know how to be safe. As well as this, the game could be targeted towards young driver so people who are around the ages 17-22.

What will the product be?

The product will be a digital game or app that will be made using either Flash or PowerPoint. The game’s main purpose will be to inform either young drivers or young pedestrians on the dangers that the road has to offer. Assets such as platforming, RPG or item collecting could be included as well as quiz-style elements to test the user’s knowledge and what they have learned from the game. Another idea could be a game about the character crossing the road or a rhythm game where the player must keep in time with some music and drive safely at the same time.

Where could it be viewed?

The game could be a flash game that could be viewed on the internet on either the DVLA website or an educational games website depending on who it is targeted towards although this may be a problem, because some websites cannot handle the flash format thus limiting people from playing it. However, the game could also be created as an app on the appstore so that people could download it on their phones or tablets so they can play it on the go.

Why is it required?

In previous years there has been an increase in the amount of motor vehicles on the roads and the amount of young people, particularly young children and teenagers who have died or been injured on the roads. This needs to be avoided so be making an interactive game to inform young people in the united kingdom about road safety and crossing the road, people will be more informed about the roads. It will help to reduce the amount of road related casualties and help young people to know of the dangers the road has to offer is they are not safe.
